For a brief time worked as a teacher at Szemerényi Károly Primary School in Tvrdošovce, then got his next job as an assistant lecturer on the Department of Chemistry at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. He got his „PaedDr.“ title at the same university in 2000, this was followed by his „PhD. “ academic title in 2004. The topic of his doctoral work: Theoretical and experimental studies of complexes between TCNE and π-electron donors. In 2016 habilitated from educational sciences at Eszterházy Károly University.

4. RECTOR

2009 – 2013 and 2013 – 2017
FIRST AND SECOND TERM

During his first and second terms as rector, which lasted eight years starting on February 1, 2009, J. Selye University underwent several important changes. It developed significantly compared to the previous period. He used his leadership qualities in several different areas during these years.

The creation of the current image of the university and the forming of the structure of units and departments, which enabled the university's transparent and regular function, were of paramount importance. The organizational regulations, rector's decrees and internal regulations necessary for this were created by the university's management at the time, based on which and according to which the university has been operating ever since.

An outstanding moment in the university's history is the university's achievement of university status in 2016. After the first unsuccessful complex accreditation process, which included the period from 2004 to 2008, the university, with the new management at its head, completed the period 2009-2014 in such a way that it achieved university classification after submitting the second complex accreditation self-assessment. The creation and opening of the doctoral study program of Business Economics and Management were key to this, so on September 2, 2016, they fulfilled the last, so far missing, KZ-3 criterion.

Under his leadership, four significant projects promoting the development and modernization of the university were implemented. The large-scale project realized in 2009-2010 included two different areas. The results of the project were the renovation of the building of the then Faculty of Economics and The Officers' Pavilion, as well as the equipment of laboratories and classrooms, and the introduction and development of ICT systems, which played an important role in the university's development. The second was entitled Increasing the Quality of Education through the Design and Innovation of Study Programs, the Development of Human Resources and Career Counselling. Its goals were the innovation of study programs, the opposition of completed and renewed study programs, the language and IT training of employees teaching at the university, and the support of career counselling. As a result of the tender, the university's ICT rooms and language laboratories were equipped with modern technology. The third such large-scale tender success is the EU grant awarded to build and modernize JSU's infrastructure, thanks to which the university created a data centre with servers, data storage, visualization software, a security data backup centre, and a high-capacity external power generator.

Thanks to the fourth tender, with a total cost of almost 5 million, a Nanotechnology and Supramolecular Laboratory and an Intelligent Robotics Centre, unique in Central Europe, were created, with which the university mobilizes its research groups and develops scientific research.

Science and scientific publications have always played an important role in his life, as evidenced by the fact that during his years as a rector, the university repeatedly occupied high positions in the report on the publication activities of public higher education institutions in Slovakia.
Achieving these successes required strategic decisions and cohesive and coordinating work for the university's leaders, faculty, and staff.

2025 – 2029
FIRST TERM

The President of the Slovak Republic has appointed him as the rector of J. Selye University in Komárno, effective February 1st 2025, following the decision of the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors of J. Selye University.

J. SELYE UNIVERSITY

J. Selye University was founded on 23 October, 2003 through the passing of the law No. 465/2003 on its establishment by the National Council of the Slovak Republic. The act came into force on 1 January 2004. J. Selye University is the only independent legal entity in Slovakia, which offers academic study programmes to an ethnic minority in their mother tongue, i.e. Hungarian. It serves as a public institution providing education for the Hungarian minority on the highest educational level. Not only was the establishment of J. Selye University a significant step in the development of Slovak higher education, it was also a unique event in the history of the EU.

The mission of J. Selye University is to offer high priority to quality study programmes at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels and to boost research programmes, preserve and respect universal ethical norms, promote the development of harmonious personality and ensure freedom of thought and opinion. Our university was established to increase the qualification level of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia. Higher qualification levels can create equal opportunities for ethnic Hungarians on the labour market and can decrease unemployment in the regions with significant Hungarian population. Our institution can act as a catalyst of social and economic development.

J. Selye University aims to educate young intellectuals who can become the pillars of our national community and whose language skills will enable them to succeed at home and abroad. Our university is an institution where multiculturalism, the freedom of thought and opinion, responsibility, human dignity, democracy, creativity, the originality of academic research and efficient instructor-student communication are basic principles. Besides providing high quality education our institution also contributes to the development of science and research by building cooperation with the international network of institutions, and thus providing an opportunity for Hungarian researchers in Slovakia to join international research projects. Our institution is a regional centre of science and research taking an active role in economic, social and cultural life of the region.
