Scholarships

J. Selye University provides social, pregnancy, motivational and doctoral scholarships to its students from the budget. Students with an unfavourable financial background are eligible for the social scholarship. The assessment is based on a ministerial decree. The documents required to apply for the scholarship can be found in the Academic Information System. According to the Higher Education Act, full-time doctoral students are entitled to a doctoral scholarship.

A pregnant student who has a permanent residence in the Slovak Republic and is not entitled to a pregnancy allowance can apply for a pregnancy scholarship. The pregnancy scholarship is awarded based on the student's written application. More information about the pregnancy scholarship can be found here, and the application form can be downloaded here.

Motivational scholarships consist of study and professional scholarships, which can be awarded to students who achieve the best academic results. In addition to all this, JSU also provides scholarships from its own resources, thereby motivating its students. From this, we support students who achieve outstanding results, winners of academic competitions, and scholarships for the best final theses and the best student. The motivation scholarship cannot be applied for, the student receives it based on their results.

You can get more information about the types of scholarships, eligibility, and how they are assessed and awarded in the Scholarship Regulations. Decisions on awarding scholarships are available to members of the university community in the Academic Information System.

If the student has been awarded a scholarship, he/she will be notified by e-mail and can track it in the Academic Information System, and will receive his/her scholarship by bank transfer. It is extremely important that students have a current account number so that the scholarship can be allocated after the award. This avoids possible longer administrative procedures and, in some cases, the loss of eligibility for the scholarship due to delays.

Naturalization

RECOGNITION OF EDUCATION DOCUMENTS CERTIFYING QUALIFICATION ISSUED BY FOREIGN INSTITUTION

The recognition of documents certifying a qualification issued by a foreign institution is based on Law No. 422/2015 Coll. on recognition of education documents and on recognition of professional qualification and on changes and amendments to certain acts (hereinafter "law"), as well as on Directive No. 2/2020 of J. Selye University.

I.
Complete secondary qualification – CHANGE!

From 1 March 2025, there has been a change in the recognition of documents of complete secondary qualification for the purpose of studying in the Slovak Republic according to § 39a of the law.

The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as the "Ministry") has simplified the system of recognition of education documents for graduates from the EU and three other non-European countries (Ukraine, Russia and China). A database of recognition clauses for the current and most common types of complete secondary education qualifications is published on the Ministry's website.

Through the automatic recognition system, the applicant downloads the clause on the recognition of the degree of education from the portal, if it has been published, and then attaches it to the documents of the admission procedure.

The portal of the Centre for the Recognition of Education Documents is available here.

  • In the first step, you need to select a country and confirm your choice by clicking on “Confirm”.
  • Then select the level of education, e.g. in the case of Hungary “LEVEL: M érettségi”.
  • Finally, click on “Download confirmation” to download and print the recognition of the level of education.

An officially certified document of completed education must be attached to the statement on recognition of the level of education.

II.
Higher qualification

Recognition of the equivalents of certificates of higher education issued by foreign institution in the given field of study for the purpose of continuing studies at J. Selye University is based on § 33 of the law.
The application has to be submitted on the following address:

Študijné oddelenie
Fakulta ekonómie a informatiky / Pedagogická fakulta / Reformovaná teologická fakulta
Univerzita J. Selyeho
Bratislavská cesta  3322
945 01  Komárno

The form required for the submission of the application for the recognition of the equivalence of documents certifying the qualification in higher education in the given field of study.

In addition to studies, J. Selye University and the city of Komárom offer excellent opportunities for active recreation

At Selye János University, the Women's Faculty, Cantus Iuventus, was founded in the 2013/14 academic year with 35 members. Currently, it boasts a staff of more than 70 people. The Student Self-Government of J. Selye University organizes several events for students every year. These include the university ball, Komárom University Days, Faculty Days, quizzes, discussion evenings. The university's sports center has 3 well-equipped rooms, the fitness room with mirrors, the aerobics room and the large gymnasium, waiting for the students and employees of the university who would like to do sports, and they are also available to the public. The multifunctional sports field located next to the Sirály College can be used even in the evening thanks to its lighting.

The city of Komárom, with its diverse locations and rich programs, offers culture and sports enthusiasts a great opportunity to relax. At the confluence of the Danube and the Vág, on 13 hectares, directly next to the Conference Center of J. Selye University, the central fortress of Komárom is located, which even in its current state is a valuable historical attraction.

One of Slovakia's Hungarian theater companies, the stone theater Jókai Theater, is located in the city center and has long been one of the cornerstones of Hungarian theater in the highlands. The Egressy Béni Municipal Cultural Center hosts numerous music and theater productions every year, as well as several festivals. Many museums, libraries, churches and galleries also await those interested in culture. The city organizes several large-scale events every year. These include the traditional Komáromi Days, Jókai Days, St. Andrew's Day Fair, Komáromi Borkorzó or the Lehár Summer event series. Movie lovers can take advantage of the experiences offered by the modern Tatra Cinema, which is also suitable for screening 3D films.

Fans of professional sports will also find the right opportunity for them to relax, as those interested can cheer on the matches of the Slovak Cup winner and champion VK Spartak UJS volleyball team, the Slovak Cup winning basketball team, and the football team in the second league.

The city's location on the waterfront offers an excellent opportunity for water sports lovers, to which the Komáromi Kayak-Canoe Club is of great help. In the city, it is also possible to rent bicycles, boats and pedal boats. Since the EuroVelo 6 cycle route connecting Western France and the Black Sea passes through the city of Komárom, it offers cyclists a variety of multi-directional hiking opportunities in addition to the regionally developed cycle paths.

The thermal bath in Komárom welcomes those who would like to heal and relax all year round. During the beach season, 7 different pools are available to bathers. Those who would like to do sports in the winter can choose between the indoor swimming pool and the artificial ice rink. Hammer Gym, Black CrossGym, Max Gym Komárno and many other gyms provide a place and equipment for all those who choose bodybuilding as a sport.

The city's pleasant bars and pubs, such as Ramsesz and Saturnusz, provide a great location for afternoon and evening conversations, where you can even play billiard or darts. The Pince University Club's regular cultural programs are sufficiently varied (book presentation, painting exhibition, discussion evening) and in addition to these, it also provides musical, dancing and disco entertainment. The city's friendly cafes give you the opportunity to break up the long days and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. The rich offer of Kávy sveta or CAFE FREI provides quality for gourmets.

There are many dining options available both within the framework of the university and in the restaurants of the city. In a non-exhaustive list: fast food restaurants (Tripl's), pizzerias (Lux Pizzeria, Allegra Pizzeria, Neptun Pizzeria, Tatai), restaurants (Melinda buffet) provide the possibility of a varied and quick meal. Fans of the street-food style are waiting for the restaurant called Francesco, where they can taste excellent cocktails alongside the quesadilla. Of course, in addition to these, there are restaurants of a higher standard (Bella restaurant, Klapka restaurant, Zucca restaurant, Bow Garden...), which enhance the city's culture with their high level of gastronomic value. The majority of the restaurants also offer a daily menu to their customers, which they receive information about on offer in advance on the Kam na menu? website.

Makovecz

The Makovecz Student Scholarship Programme (in other words, the Hungarian Erasmus) is a framework programme for cooperation in the Carpathian Basin announced by the Ministry of Human Resources in Budapest.

Goals of the Scholarship Program:

- to promote the supply of intellectuals to Hungarian diaspora by broadening student mobility between Hungarian and other higher education institutions beyond the border in the Hungarian language,
- supporting the processes of quality development and internationalization of Hungarian higher education in Hungary and in Hungarian higher education beyond the border.

Opportunities:

The Program provides support in each academic year to Hungarian diaspora studying at higher education institutions operating courses in Hungarian language beyond the designated border, as well as to students from the mother country interested in studying abroad.

The selection of the outgoing and incoming students and the criteria thereof are agreed by the cooperating institutions at their own discretion. In doing so, the selection of the outgoing and incoming students is carried out by their own institution (the home institution) taking into account the specified selection criteria (e.g. academic and/or scientific activity and/or social aspects and/or other activities, etc.).
